How to duplicate and relaunch a campaign

How-to guide Updated 12 July 2026

How do you duplicate and relaunch a cold email campaign?

Ask Claude to duplicate a campaign that worked, and HotHawk clones every step, the schedule and the copy into a fresh draft. Load a new list into the copy, check it still reads right, and launch. You reuse what earned replies last time and only make one new decision: who to send it to.

Before you start

You need a HotHawk account and the HotHawk MCP server connected to Claude. It takes a couple of minutes and no code. Full setup is on the MCP server page.

Step by step

  1. 1
    You ask Claude

Duplicate my SaaS Q3 campaign and call the copy SaaS Q4.

    Claude calls mcp__hothawk__campaigns_duplicate_create
campaignId SaaS Q3 name "SaaS Q4"

You get a fresh draft with every step, the schedule and the winning copy carried over. No list attached yet, so nothing sends by accident.

  2. 2
    You ask Claude

Load the 520 leads from my "SaaS Q4 target" list into it.

    Claude calls mcp__hothawk__campaigns_leads_create
campaignId SaaS Q4 leadIds 520 leads allowLeadsInMultiple false

The new list is enrolled. Anyone already sitting in another live campaign is skipped by default, so a lead never gets the same play twice.

  3. 3
    You ask Claude

Copy still looks right. Launch it.

    Claude calls mcp__hothawk__campaigns_activate_create
    campaignId SaaS Q4

SaaS Q4 goes live and starts sending across your warmed, rotated mailboxes, inside the same window that worked last time.

Do not rebuild what already worked

You ran a campaign last quarter that pulled a solid reply rate. The copy worked, the timing was right, the steps did their job. Now you want to run it again on a new batch of leads. Building it from scratch means re-typing every step, re-setting the window, re-loading the variants, all to recreate something you already had.

Duplicating skips all of that. HotHawk clones the whole campaign into a fresh draft, copy and schedule intact, and leaves the list off so nothing sends until you say so. The proven part comes across untouched. The only blank to fill is the new audience.

One sentence, three moves

Run it from Claude and the clone, the list load and the launch are three short instructions. Ask for the duplicate and it calls campaigns_duplicate_create. Add the new list and it calls campaigns_leads_create. Say launch and it calls campaigns_activate_create. You can pause after any of them to check the draft, and nobody gets an email until you are happy.

The default protects you here too. Leads already sitting in another live campaign are skipped, so a relaunch never doubles up on someone mid-conversation. If you genuinely want to re-run the same people, that is a deliberate choice, not a slip.

The sending stays proven too

A duplicated campaign is a normal HotHawk campaign, so it inherits the same infrastructure the original ran on. Sending rotates across your warmed mailboxes, warmup keeps running on real Google and Microsoft inboxes, and open tracking stays off. You are recycling the copy and the timing, not cutting a corner on how it gets sent.

Once the copy is live, keep the chat open. Ask how it compares to the original run, or fold in a new subject line to test against the old winner. Reusing a campaign is not the end of the work, it is the fast start to the next round.

The HotHawk tools behind this

Every action here is a real endpoint. Claude reaches it over the MCP server, and you can hit the same endpoints directly from the REST API if you would rather build it into your own stack.

  • mcp__hothawk__campaigns_duplicate_create Clone a campaign, steps, schedule and copy
  • mcp__hothawk__campaigns_leads_create Enrol the new list into the copy
  • mcp__hothawk__campaigns_activate_create Set the copy live and start sending

Frequently asked

What gets carried over when I duplicate a campaign?

The steps, the schedule, the sending window and the copy, including any variants you were testing. What does not carry over is the old list, so you start the copy clean and add whoever you are targeting next.

Will the same leads get emailed again if I relaunch?

Not unless you want them to. You load a new list into the copy, and leads already in another live campaign are skipped by default. If you do want to re-run the exact same people, that is a choice you make, not the default behaviour.

Why duplicate instead of just starting a new campaign?

Because rebuilding a campaign that already worked is wasted effort. If a play earned replies last quarter, the copy and the timing are proven. Cloning it means the only new decision is who to send it to, which is where your time should go.

Do I need to write code to duplicate and relaunch?

No. The clone, the list load and the launch all run in plain language over the MCP server. The same three endpoints are in the REST API if you want to script a recurring relaunch into your own stack.

Does relaunching from Claude change anything about deliverability?

No. The clone sends from the same mailboxes as the original, with the same rotation and warmup behind it and open tracking off. The copy is new. The protections underneath it are the ones that were already on.

Send cold emails that get delivered. Never miss a positive reply.
