What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage and tracking pixels, do a comparable job. They let a site remember things between pages and visits, measure how it is used, and support advertising.
This policy covers our marketing website at hothawk.ai. It does not describe the cookies inside our application, which are limited to what is needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. Cookie names and lifespans are set by each provider and can change; the tables below give representative examples.
Essential and functional
These make the site work and remember your on-site choices. They are always active because the site cannot function properly without them.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm and similar |
Cloudflare | Security, bot detection, and keeping the site available and fast. | ~30 minutes |
hh_mkt (browser storage) |
HotHawk | Remembers which on-site messages you have already seen so they are not shown repeatedly. | Up to 14 days |
Analytics cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They are not essential. PostHog may also record anonymised session replays (such as clicks, scrolling, and navigation); text you type into form fields is masked by default.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
ph_*_posthog |
PostHog | Product analytics and session replay: which pages and features are used, and where visitors run into problems. | Up to 12 months |
_ga, _ga_* |
Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors and sessions to produce aggregate traffic statistics. | Up to 24 months |
Advertising and retargeting cookies
These let us measure our advertising and show relevant HotHawk ads to people who have visited the site. They are set by third-party advertising networks and involve sharing limited information about your visit with them. They are not essential.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au |
Google Ads | Links your visit to Google Ads campaigns so advertising can be measured. | 90 days |
IDE, test_cookie |
Google (DoubleClick) | Remarketing and advertising measurement across Google's network. | Up to 13 months |
bcookie, lidc, li_sugr, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, li_gc |
Retargeting and advertising analytics via the LinkedIn Insight Tag. | 1 day to ~12 months |
Our app and campaigns
For the avoidance of doubt: the cookies above are used on our marketing website only. Our application uses only the cookies needed to sign you in and secure your session, and our email campaigns contain no open tracking or click tracking pixels. None of the analytics or advertising described here has any access to the email or mailbox data we handle inside the Service.
How to control cookies
You have several ways to control or refuse these cookies, and using them will not stop you browsing the site:
- Your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear local storage in its settings. You can also browse in a private or incognito window.
- Google. Manage or turn off personalised advertising in My Ad Center, and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- LinkedIn. Opt out of retargeting in your LinkedIn advertising settings.
- Industry opt-out tools. Opt out of many advertising networks at once via Your Online Choices (Europe), the Digital Advertising Alliance, and the Network Advertising Initiative.
These opt-out links take you to third-party sites we do not control, and your choices are usually stored in a cookie, so you may need to set them again if you clear your cookies or use another device or browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the tools we use change. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top. For anything not covered here, please see our Privacy Policy or contact [email protected].
